We Can Meet your Needs

The secret to pasture pipelines is the value of sourcing pipe at the wholesale level.

Costs of bulk pipe vary depending on exchange rates which determine manufacture input costs.  A general rule of thumb is you can hire us to supply your pipe, plow it in, and provide you with hookups on each end (and for stock tanks along the line) for about 60% of the cost of just purchasing your pipe at your local farm supply outlet.  Don’t let your local pipe prices drive your decisions on water delivery.  You can purchase a variety of levels of service that range from simply renting our 3 point hitch pasture pipe plow (when you buy your pipe from us) all the way to complete pipeline installations where we will supply and deliver the pipe, plow it in (you will need to supply an adequate tractor to pull the plow), supply and install all the hookups, and run spur lines.

Every installation is unique, so we have come up with different options that can meet your needs.

Full Service Installations

Every job is a bit different so we cannot quote a final price until we have discussed your situation.  But, as a general guideline we will source and deliver the pipe, plow it in (using a tractor provided by you), and supply and install all hookups for a cost per foot of about 60% the price for the pipe only at your local farm supply store.  Fittings will be charged at 20% over our costs (typical fittings are a small cost compared to the pipe).  Reduced oil prices, favorable US exchange, length of your pipeline, proximity to Edmonton (our home base), and complexity of your installation all affect the final price.  We can give you a firm quote in writing so there are no surprises on cost.

Fire is a very minor risk when installing pasture pipeline.  We will work under your farm and ranch insurance policy in the event of a fire.  We have never had a fire, but we need to be prepared so we carry modest fire control with us and rely on you to carry the appropriate insurance disclaimers.

We also rely on you to route your pipelines so that tractor and/or plow rollovers are not a concern.  In general your tractor will be more tolerant of sidehills than we are, but again, we need to be prepared.  If your route traverses a sidehill that is too steep for our comfort we may require rerouting or you may have to drive for that section.  In general it is best to avoid sidehills when installing pasture pipeline.

Fusions and Fittings

High density poly pipe works best with specialized fittings.  The gold standard is butt fused fittings, which requires specialized tools for installation.  Socket fusing also requires specialized tools, but a socket fuser is cheaper and more mobile (can be shipped economically) than a butt fuser.  Compression fittings are also readily available and anyone can hand install them with simple tools (pipe and/or strap wrench).  Our most common pipe is 1.5 and 2", but we can fuse up to 6".  We do not usually rent our butt fusers out; we do have a couple of socket fusers for rent.

Ends are finished with a pipe to thread transition.  These can be either butt or socket fused on.  Standard steel hose barbs can also be used, but we will have to explain some tricks of the trade for you to use hose barbs.  Fittings are a minimal cost compared to the cost of the pipe, so we don't recommend scrimping on fittings.  Fused pipe to thread transitions are the gold standard.

Most folks will want a way to get water out their main line, mostly to go to water troughs.  That can be done with T's, fused saddles, or mechanical saddles.  Every installation is different so call us and we give you a firm cost for fittings that meet your needs.
